Writing Leads Pt.1

   


 Hello! Since we will be writing a feature story for our article, we have to make sure our writing is up to par. Our teacher has us practicing how to write our leads. 

Title of Leads: Shut up and Work ! 

Describe the lead: One line startle

   These are the facts:

  1. A study at the University of Michigan shatters some myths. The results were announced today. Women have a reputation for gossiping and talking, yet the study found the reputation is undeserved. The study, which required researchers to observe a number of people at work, found that women work both longer and harder than men—that men spend more time goofing off on the job. The study found that the average employed man spends 52 minutes, or 11 percent of each working day, not working: in scheduled coffee breaks, unscheduled rest breaks, at lunch beyond the normal hour and so forth. The average working woman spends only 35 minutes, or 8 percent of her working day, in such scheduled and unscheduled rest breaks. The same study found that the amount of effort expended by women at work is 112 percent that of men. The discrepancy is more dramatic than the statistics indicate because men earn more than women for the same type of work. The average man in the study earned $13 an hour, compared to 9.34 for the average woman. The women tended to hold mainly clerical jobs, but those in managerial positions also outperformed their male counterparts.
  This is my lead: 
          When will men shut up? As much as men want to believe that they’re the best at what they do, they’re wrong. Men can’t even work the full day without finding ways to get coffee breaks, unscheduled rest breaks, and being at lunch longer than supposed to. The world has been conditioned to believe that women have a reputation of gossip and talking when unnecessary, how ironic is it that the people who started it are the ones carrying it out? It’s even more surprising with the discrepancy in numbers.

Photo Composition Info Pt.1

     Hello you guys! Long time, no see. So yes, I’ve been busy learning the new techniques that photographers use to take photos. I even learned Mise-en-scene (however I’ll explain that later). Yesterday, in class, I ended up doing a practice assignment identifying certain elements such as camera shots, angles, composition, and mise-en-scene that were in a video that was shown. It was a mistreating assignment. Although I didn’t not know what kind of answer my teacher was looking for, I explained how each kind of element was used to convey meaning in the scene. Hopefully I did well.
